Responding to increasingly shrill cries of outrage by feminists and western politicians over a old eroge “Rapelay”, in which the protagonist…er…rapes women, the self-governing body “Ethics Organization of Computer Services” in Japan has moved to “officially” bar companies from making games with “rape content”.
How effective this move will be will be a matter of debate.
However, the last ban on “lolicon (underage) sex” games is seen by some as laughably ineffective as companies merely sidestep regulations by designing characters that have traits of pre-pubescent girls but are of ambiguous age within the context/storyline of the game*. Companies can and will try to find ways to skirt around these new regulations via similar methods.
Furthermore, this “ban” is not backed by any legal authority and will therefore have limited affect on “rogue companies” that are not part of the organization. This writer feels that so long as there is sufficient demand there will be financial incentives for such “rogues” to break this self-imposed ban. Basic Economics…really.
Thirdly, significant amount of “rape games” are output from non-commercial (as in non-corporate), fan-based groups that are mostly immune to political pressure and difficult to camp down. The void left behind by corporate companies will quickly be filled by these groups, defeating the propose of such a ban.
On an unrelated note, readers that clicked on the link for…risque content will be disappointed. We apologize for the inconvenience. I would have post names and pictures (of those games). But my editor will probably kill and then rape me (hopefully not in that ANY order) for doing so…(Edit : oh it’s fine, you can share some with me too. Not these readers though. ^_^ )

on~~ my cousin love this kind of games despite being a girl herself….
