For those of us who have Red Alert 3′s expansion Uprising, the best thing in there is not the campaign or the multiplayer. It is the Commander’s Challenge, which challenges the player to defeat an enemy commander or commanders in as little time as possible. Some of those challenges have pretty ridiculous timings. The Gold Mine Has Collapsed challenge has a par time of 3 minutes! Each challenge also has some unique aspects. Some of them only allow you to use infantry, some allow you to use only tanks…etc. The reward for completing a challenge is to unlock a new unit which could be vital for completing another challenge. You can complete the missions above par time, but where’s the fun in that?

Turtling will usually NOT WORK, especially when you’re taking on 2 or more commanders at once for the sole reason that in late game you’ll be facing 2 superweapons and the combined might of 2 armies. This encourages the player to rush. Some of those rushes can be quite creative. And whether you are dojo rushing (explained in the video below) or tengu/VX rushing, you need to micro well. You also need to know some of the more advanced commands like reverse move, waypoint etc.

2 particular effective strategies are the Empire of the Rising Sun’s dojo rush and the tengu/VX rush.

Dojo Rush

As seen in the video, build 4 dojos and unpack them in/near the enemy’s base. Then spam Imperial Warriors, Tankbusters and Engineers. That’s the basic strategy. Simple, right? But as you can see in this challenge, you have to destroy 3 bases, so good micro spells the difference between victory and defeat.

Tengu/VX rush

Actually, 2 VXs are enough to cripple an enemy base, provided he does not have anit-air. Tengus are mixed in to eliminate Apollos and Migs, but you need at least 5. A good way to eliminate their airforce is to simply camp them on top of their airfields and the VXs will do the rest. Don’t forget to take the rocket pods upgrade as well. This strategy requires more intensive micro, especially if the enemy has anti-air infantry/vehicles, in which case you have to constantly move your VXs back and forth. Reverse move (press ‘D’ and right click) is extremely useful for that situation.
